For your own account, use Instagram's official data download to get everything. For someone else's public account you want to preserve — a memorial, a business closing, a public-interest record — save what you can while it's still up: download the posts, reels, stories, and highlights through a viewer before the account disappears.

Accounts vanish — people delete, businesses close, profiles get suspended. If content matters to you, archive it before it's gone. Here's how, for both cases.

Your own account

Instagram lets you download a full copy of your data: Settings → Your activity → Download your information. You'll get your photos, videos, stories, messages, and more by email. Do this before deactivating or deleting. Full walkthrough in how to back up your Instagram.

A public account you don't own

You can't use the data-download tool for someone else, but if the account is public you can save its content directly:

Preserve it before it's gone

Save a public account's stories, reels and highlights with Stalkzi — full quality, no login.

Act while it's live

Once an account is deleted, its content is gone for good — no viewer can retrieve what's no longer online. If you have reason to think an account may disappear, archive now, not later.

Keep it respectful

Only archive public content, and use it responsibly — personal keeping, memorials, or legitimate record-keeping, not repurposing someone's work as your own.
